Bridge in Venice

Dora Bianka's work depicts a canal crossed by a bridge in Venice, as well as gondolas lining the architectural buildings.

In the foreground, the space is occupied by two gondolas on the canal, guiding the viewer's gaze toward the center of the composition. Their elongated, dark forms contrast with the water's surface, composed of blue-green tones.
The middle ground is dominated by the horizontal bridge, which organizes the composition by arranging the different planes. Its rounded curve introduces a dynamic into the scene.
In the background, several buildings with colorful facades stand on either side of the canal. They consist of vertical lines that frame the scene and contribute to the depth of this composition. The architecture appears almost simplified, reduced to geometric volumes and large colored surfaces.

The chromatic palette is clear, dominated by the blues of the sky, the blue-greens of the water, and the warmer tones of the buildings. The light is diffuse and natural.

Space is suggested more by the superposition of planes, particularly between the canal and the architecture, than by rigorous linear perspective. The overall composition exudes a feeling of calm and everyday life.
